“I was ashamed of myself when I realized life was a costume party and I attended with my real face.”
Anja Bezlova
Anja Bezlova’s multi-character solo performance POP UP SHOW is a work that disarms before it reveals, and that reveals before it explains... Through a sequence of sharply physical, intimate, and cabaret-inflected personas, Bezlova navigates identity, ego, and femininity not as fixed concepts, but as states in constant negotiation.
Moving fluidly between street theatre, contemporary circus, and cabaret, POP-UP SHOW establishes an immediate, playful, almost conspiratorial relationship with its audience. Humor sits comfortably beside vulnerability, while moments of raw honesty arrive without warning. POP UP SHOW is created in the moment, shaped as much by the space and the spectators as by the performer’s alert, responsive presence — reminding us that identity, like performance, is always a live event.
Each character that appears feels less like a role and more like a fragment — a different flavor, a different mask, a different truth — all belonging to the same woman. The result is not a linear narrative but a vivid, sometimes contradictory box of chocolates of contemporary female experience: sweet, bitter, playful, unsettling, embodied, fractured, and reassembled in real time.

POP UP SHOW is Presented in Greece by Restart Theatre Athens as a parallel activity of the European project WOMEN interACT: Participatory Theatre Against the double exclusion of women, which is co-financed by Creative Europe. Anja will be teaching a 3 day physical theatre workshop to the women from the community participants of WiA in Greece between 17-19 January 2026, assisting us in the creation of the women's group premier on their experiences of exclusion to be presented in Athens on 24 April 2026.

Anja Bezlova Završnik is a street and circus performer. From 2011 to 2014, she studied at the International School of Theatre Creation HELIKOS in Florence. She is a member of the theatre group Globus Hystericus, which tours across Europe and won the URBana LJUBLJana Award for Best Slovenian Street Performance in 2021 and 2023. She is also a member of the Priden možic Street Theatre Group and collaborates with Ana Monro—the oldest street theatre company in Slovenia—as well as with the circus group Vitkar.
Alongside her artistic work, Anja is actively engaged in the fight for the respect and preservation of industrial heritage. For this work, she is a co-recipient of the national Valvasor Award.
Since 2020, she has closely collaborated with the ZIZ collective from Maribor. She directed the cabaret performance ZIZ Kabaret and several local events, for which she received the ZIZ Award for her contributions in this field. In 2025 and 2026, she is involved in the WiA project.
Her solo career is defined by distinctive multipersona characters and cabaret-based creations, including Feed My Ego, Feed My Ego 2, and her latest multipersonal pop-up show Petlična, which she also tours internationally. Each of Anja’s multipersona characters represents an intimate portrait of her inner world, continuously shaped by external stimuli. While her projects explore diverse themes, a central red thread runs through all her work: the woman. Each performance offers a new box of assorted flavors of the same woman.
